Applelust is looking to add writers to its staff. If you
are interested or want to be part of the Applelust community, drop us
a line with your resume or vita. We are always on the look out for good,
very smart, and reliable people to join the staff. If you think you have
what it takes, let us know.
Applelust.com is the
brainchild of David K. Schultz. He
started Applelust.com in January of
2000. Since then, through chance and
hard work, it has grown into an opinion
and help site with a staff of writers,
sponsors, and valuable
relationships with other Mac sites.
Many
of the writers here are teachers either
professionally or by nature. Others
are just technically talented. The tie
that binds is a desire to take the
Macintosh, something people know a
great deal about, and use it to teach
them things they might not be aware
of. We want to take the reader from
what he knows to what he does not
yet see. Thus, we cover a wide range
of topics that all, in some way, start
out with the Mac and yet end up who
knows where. We simply let logic take
us where it will.
Since David is a university philosopher involved in the academic world (as are several of the writers), Applelust is unique in that it tries to bring the ideals, standards, and talent of the academic world to a dot com site. This is very rare, and rarely understood, even by many webmasters. We are not about hits, for we do not think YOU are a hit, but a rational person living in a sometimes confusing world, just like us. So we try to make sense of that world and share our explorations with you. This means we write long articles sometimes, because we are actually exporing ideas and topics in depth. This is the kind of site you curl up with at night and read, or print out and read in your study. Our content is hard sometimes, difficult to grasp, and that is why we say "Applelust: Where content is an activity": We make you work! But that is because we are teaching in one way or another in everything we do. The only profit we seek is changed lives and this only comes through effort on both the writer's part and the reader's part.
We
have several mottos. "To think
different, one must first think";
"Making sense of the Mac. Making
sense of Technology. Just making sense."
And of course our charter "Bite
into the Apple," which signifies
the temptation and lust of the Garden
of Eden. When the original Apple logo was produced, the bite out of the apple signified lust, that is, lust after knowledge, with an end to changing the world.
The
name "Applelust" also has a specific
intension (yes, intension with an 's').
"Lust" as we use it signifies
"that which is beyond words to describe
... an ineffable emotional state."
It is the point one reaches when words fail
him, that is, the ineffable limit of conception.
It's a way of saying, "Apple is so
great you cannot put it into words."
So what do we do here? We try to put it
into words! We try to speak
the unspeakable.
Be sure to visit each author's
home page in the site to find bios on
them. We think you'll find each an interesting
personality in his or her own right. All
are professionals and highly trained ones
at that. It is our belief that to say
something meaningful and lasting it takes
a great deal of preparation and expertise.
Our writers are not your ordinary writers.
We don't want to waste your time, so we
try to provide the best. They could be,
and some are, published professionally
in academics and other areas. After
all, there is enough nonsense in the world
without us adding to it.
We
hope you enjoy your time here.
Are
you interested in writing for us?
If so, we are looking for a few good
writers to contribute to the site.
If interested, contact
us and please give references
to your work, any previous writing
you have done, and for whom.
Sponsorship. If you are interested in
advertising with us, please contact
us. We have rates for both Applelust.com

OS Journal.
