I’ve been
using Mac OS X for several weeks now, and I
thought I’d share various aspects of my
experience, in order to provide more information
to those readers who have yet to take the jump
to the new system, and to possibly offer some
additional tricks and tips to those already
using the system on a regular basis.
I am still waiting for drivers
for specific hardware items, such as my external
LaCie FireWire burner (which only works as a
burner from within iTunes, for audio CDs) and
my Umax Astra 4000U scanner. For both devices,
I need to boot in Mac OS 9, which is annoying,
but a useful reminder of how snappy certain
things used to be.
For all the rest, however, I’m
using Mac OS X and the Classic environment,
and I must say things are running pretty smoothly
overall. Here is a first batch of observations
on a variety of issues.
